Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Salzburg. City is renowned as a birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a great deposits of salt. During the beginning of city, the salt was the mean reasons of Income. City was built and grow by the money from profits from salt trading.
What to see?
Let’s start at the Old Town. Not so big but certainly charmful. There is a lot of restaurants, small narrow streets and alleys. . It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Probably main attraction of Salzburg is Hohensalzburg Castle situated on a top of a small hill Festungsberg. Construction of the fortress began in 1077 under Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein. The original design was a basic baley with a wooden wall. Salzburg as a birthplace of composer Mozart have give us opportunity to see his Birthplace building. It’s located near the old town. Walk over the city a lot of tourist guide suggest to visit a Mirabell Palace and Gardens. Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his beloved Salome Alt. Today, it serves as the backdrop for the most romantic weddings you could possibly imagine. All over the city is located some about 20 beautiful churches.
