One thing I say all the time is; where there is greatness, there is a Shangri-La Hotel. Silly, I know, but true. Like a gentle giant, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur has 662 rooms & suites, but the extraordinary hospitality of a boutique hotel. Visiting Kuala Lumpur was on the top of my list for some time. I was excited to experience it's shining skyscrapers, landmarks & the colonial architecture. But I was also excited to relax and unwind, and I know I'd be doing a ton of that at the Shangri-La KL.
Before we checked-in, we were greeted with a bouquet of red roses, handcrafted chocolate truffles, and a beautiful card. It really warms my heart, and I can't deny how nice it is to get pampered like this, so THANK YOU, Su Min & Shangri-La KL. After tearing up a bit with my fancy bouquet (yes, that's what I look like after 2 long International flights) we stepped into the Horizon Club Lounge to have a glass of champagne while they prepared our check-in. We arrived late at night, so we ordered some YUMMY room service and had dinner in bed. Just kidding, we just took a photo and moved everything to the living room, ha! ACCOMMODATIONS
From deluxe rooms, horizon club executive to the royal suite, you have many options to choose from. We stayed at the Premier Selection Suite, a one-bedroom suite with a separate living room area and work station. The suite was extremely comfortable, spacious, and offered panorama views of the city. We also had access to the Horizon Club Lounge, which is a must when visiting any Shangri-La hotel. The lounge is accessible 24 hours, and you can enjoy many privileges such as a dedicated concierge service, evening cocktails & canapés, priority check-ins/late check-outs, etc.
THE GROUNDS
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the award-winning 5-star luxury hotel is a true urban sanctuary.
HEALTH CLUB
If you are looking for simple cardio or a complete workout, their very well equipped gym will do it! They also have a jacuzzi, hydro pool, and steam/sauna rooms. You can also relax by their resort-style swimming pool and enjoy some snacks/refreshments from the Poolside Terrace.
THE SPA
Experience a selection of holistic treatments customized to your needs that will leave you restored and energized. We tried their known signature Asian Blend massage, which combines Thai pressure points, Chinese energy flow, and Malaysian strokes, balancing the energy throughout the body. (The Spa is open from 10 am until 12 midnight, and you can make appointments here)
DINING
My favorite part. Just kidding. Well, not really, ha! As you know, this is not my first Shangri-La rodeo, so I always look forward to trying their restaurants because I know it's fantastic. This time we tried a few and were not disappointed!
If you want to dine in style, this authentic Cantonese cuisine will take you there. Their meticulously crafted signature dishes are out of this world delicious. You can book a table here.
What a unique experience, we had a fantastic breakfast here. They have theatre kitchens featuring a ton of local & international dishes, being prepared right in front of you. You can choose what to eat from any food station; Western, Asian, Seafood, Salad Bar & their phenomenal Dessert Pavillion. Another fantastic option is their Lemon Garden 2Go - you can have fresh yummy food to take away. They also make unbelievable cakes and desserts.
LAFITE
This French cuisine restaurant will leave you speechless. I was dazzled by the quality of the food. They have several awards regarding extraordinary service and exquisite dish creations.
SHUTTLE SERVICES
Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur cares about your experience as a whole. I loved that they offer complimentary shuttle service to a lot of Landmarks, Museums, Shopping, etc. They give you a list of places for you to visit, and the times the shuttle will be running; it's so convenient and thoughtful!
We want to thank Su min and everyone from Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur for the beautiful and unforgettable stay. We were treated like royalty, and I know that's how they take care of every customer!

I can’t even imagine staying at a place like this. Frankly, I never really knew there were hotel suites that could look like a mansion! I can’t believe that dining table; it was so big! Yet it looks like it was only the two of you staying there.
I really love these travel sites, mostly because I get to see so many exotic places that I never even knew existed! In my mind, though, I really can’t even comprehend what a place like this would cost. Seriously!
Aryanne Padilha says
Hi Alexandra, I feel you. I just wanted to clarify the rooms that the suites that look like a mansion are the Royal suites, those are naturally more expensive, and we did not stay there. We stayed at the Premier. Shangri-La also has deluxe rooms and depending on when you book it, it could cost less than $200 a night, which for a luxury 5-star hotel it’s a pretty good deal. For a lot of people, it’s about the experience, and as far as service and comfort, sometimes you just can’t put a price on that.
